I just thought I'd post this before I crash for the night. Hopefully I'll wake up before class this Friday!
Anyway, in my 3D class, we have an assignment due tomorrow where we were given a few textures and had to make a breakfast-ish setting. We didn't need to make our own cereal, but our instructor said we could if we wanted to. As soon as he said that, all I could think about was a s1 episode of 30 Rock, where they were trying to come up with names of icky cereals.
I know, I spelled it wrong. Whatever. I still haven't figured out what I'll tell Matt tomorrow when he asks why I called it that... eh. Too tired to figure out those details ;)
I'm not posting this to DA yet. There are a bunch of things I still have to fix. My box looks almost metallic in some places and the bump map's off and the UV textures aren't quite lined up yet. And my background (which was in the modeling interface, I swear) has somehow disappeared in the preview render shots. Maybe if I get all of that stuff done, I'll post it there. But, for now, the draft goes here :)

Here are the assignments I handed in last week. Just got them back today. Managed to score a 10 out of 10 on each one. I'm pretty psyched. Now, if only I could get comfy in the 3D software...

So, I haven't been around much. At all. I'm sorry about that. I miss reading up on your lives/posts/fic/so on. I hope you're all doing well.
School is pretty much kicking my ass. I don't think I've drawn so much in the past two weeks than I have in a long time---and it's not "recreational." I mean, it's enjoyable, but there are goals and projects and stuff. I alternate from feeling reasonably secure in my ability to feeling completely out of my depth from one day to the next and it's beginning to make me a little crazy.
ANYWAY.
I wanted to post last week's sketch tasks for my drawing class, but I haven't had the time to scan 'em yet. (My scanner's been requisitioned as a fax machine and hasn't been returned to my desk yet.)
Instead, I thought I'd post my Illustrator assignment that I just finished (for real this time... I hope) as a substitute.
The assignment is to draw something in AI, colour it, and then shade it using only gradients. No gradient meshes, which would have probably made it easier. I feel like I cheated because I used a ton of layers---setting the shadow ones to multiply. I guess I'll find out tomorrow if it's okay or not. *fings crossed*

Since I'm not bringing my underwear in (and other sorts of things) for game-participation, I'm hoping a cartoon of the bride-to-be will be a cute gift to counteract my avoidance of all things uncomfortable ;)
Before I head to bed (and on a trip tomorrow), I thought I'd post these drawings.
The first is a doodle I churned out after talking to some friends from home about a bachelorette party. I might clean it up and colour it, as a silly little gift to the bride-to-be, but I don't know if I have time.
The second is a collection of faces I drew with my brush and ink. I know there are a lot of mistakes, but I didn't always use a pencil first, so... there. lol.
Anyway, hope you like 'em!

More of the same---people and brush/ink practice.
*headdesk* I need... to keep practicing.
I'm trying to finish more.
I tend to start projects that end up becoming huuuuge. Then, I get discouraged and I scrap 'em, when I realise I don't have the know-how to make them materialise.
So, I have a pile of scrap paper squares from my old job (yes, still, with the scrap paper) and I'm going to try to fill them all. Each one gets a subject. And, as an added bonus, I'm going to either draw or go over my pencil lines with ink and a brush---to practice because my hand is soooo not steady.
I was watching Canada's Next Top Model for the first two. (And yes, I know the first one's neck is way off.) The third? Not sure why the cat has piercings.
Comments and advice are always welcome. Be tactful!
